Covid-19 Update (22nd June 2020)
Following Government guidance and with help from the public health team, VASA is now able to extend the community transport scheme to include volunteer cars from Monday 22nd June 2020.
There are a number of safety procedures that must be followed, including the use of PPE and strict cleaning regimes. All clients must also use a face covering, which VASA can provide, and will be triaged before VASA accepts the journey. Any clients needing physical assistance will continue to be taken to their appointments using partners on this at WRCC.
This will obviously be closely monitored and any spike in infections will mean the service may be withdrawn again for the safety of all concerned. This will not be in the same numbers as our normal service, in line with guidance this will be for essential journeys for medical appointments.
We are delighted to be able to open the service up again, even in this small way and remain in awe of our volunteers who are willing to work through the pandemic. We would like to thank funders and supporters for helping them through this time.
VASA are continuing to support local efforts to ensure vital supplies are delivered within our communities and checks are made on our most vulnerable residents.
If you would like to volunteer to help with these efforts please email emma@vasa.org.uk
If you are an existing volunteer with VASA, please email transport@vasa.org.uk
For all other enquiries, please email kirsty.holder@vasa.org.uk
We will get back to you as soon as possible and thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.
