We are looking to recruit Research Participants and Community Researchers for a research study on ageing!
Are you or do you work with people aged 55+ and feel interested in taking part?
We are helping on a study in Stratford upon Avon – Wellesbourne and Bishopton – to look at the social and community networks of older people. To find out what issues affect them in their homes and local areas; how they are being supported locally; and what more can be done to help them continue living well as they grow older.
VASA are recruiting Research Participants [interviewees] 55+ and Community Researchers [interviewers] who will find out what social and community networks people have and will include questions such as:
- which local resources, places and groups are used/visited by people
- where do people get their information from locally and do they experience any barriers
- who do people trust and rely on – where do they go to for help
- what are the housing needs and requirements as people grow older and links to their wellbeing
If you are willing to be interviewed and can spare an hour of your time we would like to hear from you. Our contact details are below.
If you would like to interview people and can spare about 20 hours of your time we will train you to become a Community Researcher; which will give you the necessary skills to undertake the research. The training will take place at a local venue over two full days: 17th & 18th November 2016.
At the end of the training you will be awarded a Certificate of Participation by the University Of Central Lancashire in recognition of your attendance.
Following the training we will allocate you a number of interviews to complete with local residents aged 55+. Each interview should take between 40-60 mins. We will also give you £50 incentive voucher.
All Community Researchers will need to be DBS checked as some interviews might be held in the participants’ own home.
We are holding two Information Sessions for people interested in becoming Community Researchers on Monday 31st October 2016. These will be in held local venues in Wellesbourne [afternoon] and Bishopton [evening]. If you decide to go ahead we would like you to bring with you relevant documents [NI Number; ID etc] on the day so that we can proceed with the DBS check straight away.
If you are interested in being a Research Participant or Community Researcher or would like more information you can contact Kirsty Holder at VASA on 07904125659 email: Kirstyfirstname.lastname@example.org or Heather Brown on 07964 683146 email@example.com.
