Good Practice

Follow these steps for better volunteer recruitment.

1. Write good volunteer task descriptions. If volunteers have a clear description of what they are being asked to do they are more likely to imagine themselves in that position. Decide what you need doing, write it down, then write how a volunteer could help!

2. Get back to volunteers quickly. Make sure they know who they should contact; this may be a volunteer coordinator or may be another volunteer. Interview and train volunteers quickly before they lose interest.

3. Be flexible, be ready to adapt volunteer tasks to meet the needs and skills of volunteers. Volunteers can bring all kinds of skills to your organisation.

4. Make sure your advertising is clear describing what you want. Make sure what you can provide for volunteers is made clear.

We can also assist your organisation to develop a volunteer policy.
