One of the hardest parts of offering a variety of community volunteer led services is finding suitable venues. VASA already have a number of lunch clubs, afternoon tea/coffee groups and activity groups in the district but we listened to our clients who told us that a home from home would be great to have in the town itself.
We have now taken space in the newly refurbished Elizabeth Court in Church Street right next door to the Stratford District Council and our groups space will be open from the 1 November!
It’s been very exciting. We have scoured the recycling shops and had a productive week, re-purposing a lot of used tables and chairs, pictures and other ornaments to create a homely space where people of all ages can enjoy carer respite day groups with group and one to one activities or join us for lunch, afternoon tea activities, exercise groups and singing. The groups will be varied and the venue will be open from 9am – 3:30pm.
We chose a light and cheerful colour scheme of tones of grey interspersed with red, white and green! There are big, comfy armchairs and more upright solid chairs around the activity tables and a host of interesting rummage boxes, games, crafts and music.
It will also be available for other groups to use so, if you’re interested in coming along to have a look contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org or call Kirsty Holder on 01789777985.
Have a look at the photos on our Facebook page too!
