Over the next few weeks Stratford’s foodbank are reviewing all our volunteering roles. Below you will see six roles and there will be more roles on offer soon in our warehouse and food distribution side of our operations.

1. Maintenance Coordinator
We are looking for someone who can help us with small maintenance jobs such as fixing our shelves in the warehouse, drilling holes and very small repairs. We would hope that you have your own tool kit available to share with us for routine small jobs and might perhaps be able to advise if a job needs a specialist repair person. This role would be worked in partnership with the Foodbank Manager and Treasurer. an average of 4 hours a month, perhaps a bit more initially as we have a few jobs to do with setting up the new cabin – but reducing quite significantly as of mid Feb. This can be one person or a team of two or three.
2. Food Collections Coordinators x3
I am looking to recruit three food collections coordinators to help better improve our relationships/communications with schools, churches and supermarkets – these roles would also be invited to sit on our management committee which meets on average every 6 week- with these coordinators in place we would be able to offer these important partners one point of contact and working out how we could work better together for all our interests. I don’t see these roles requiring much more than 1 – 2 hours a week but there is always scope for more involvement if the volunteer so wishes. These roles would work together as a team and in partnership with me, the Foodbank manager. These roles are likely to involve in fundraising too.
i) Schools and Youth Groups Food Collections Coordinator
I am looking for someone to be the main point of contact for our schools (specifically primary schools) and youth groups such as Brownies and Cubs. We are in particular need for someone to be in regular contact with schools specifically over our key collection times of Christmas and Harvest so we can plan the coordination of these collections more efficiently. This could involve speaking at school assemblies.
ii) Churches Food Collections Coordinator
As for the schools I am looking for someone to be our main point of contact for the churches in our local area. In the 7 months I have been in post I have collected a good list of church contacts but we need to be able to offer them a better communication point. Specifically many of our churches have food collection points and could perhaps help us fund raise if they knew more about what we did.
iii) Supermarkets Collection Coordinator
This role is about maintaining communication with our two existing supermarket partners – Waitrose and Tesco and helping build relationships with others in town. This role would also help with the twice yearly Tesco Food Collections. This is likely to be about 4 hours a month with more time possible in the months of July and December.
3. Health and Safety Coordinator
I am looking for someone to coordinate our Health and Safety policies etc. This is largely an administrative role in pulling the policies together from the Trussell Trust Resources Templates and then working with me so we can ensure they are signed off by the Trustees and available to view but all our volunteers. Again no more than 8 hours in a month. This position would sit on our committee.
NB Stratford’s Foodbank is a Christian organisation but we welcome any volunteer who has a sympathy with the values and work of the Christian church.
