To support this year’s Shakespeare’s Birthday Parade on Saturday 25 April, more marshals will be needed. The parade will start near the Town Hall and makes its way through the central streets of Stratford, pausing in Bridge Street and adjoining streets for the traditional ceremony, and ending at Shakespeare’s Grave at Holy Trinity Church.
Marshals will escort the parade and control crossing points, helping to ensure the smooth and safe passage of the parade itself and making it a welcoming and enjoyable experience for both participants and onlookers. A big part of the role will be managing the crowds which build up on the day, so marshals will need to be organised, calm, with a natural authority, good judgement and common sense.
On 25 April marshals will be required between 0830 and 1230. They will also need to be available for the briefing/training sessions before the event, and will work under the direction/management of the Civic Marshal. Appropriate clothing, e.g. high visibility vests, will be provided. In return for this essential role you’ll have the satisfaction of supporting this town tradition, which shows the Stratford community at its best and will be invited to attend the reception and memorable Shakespeare Service on Sunday 26 April.
