A three-day national conference of volunteers in Stratford, hosted by Voluntary Action Stratford on Avon District (VASA), boosted the town’s economy by over £40,000.
The National Association for Voluntary and Community Action (NAVCA) event was attended by 167 delegates, NAVCA staff and corporate stallholders. The then Minister for the Third Sector, Kevin Brennan was the keynote speaker.
According to VASA Chief Officer Julia Phillips: “Actual expenditure by participants and NAVCA was £35,270 and estimated expenditure by other participants is conservatively estimated at £3,800.
“Clearly the conference made a significant contribution to the local economy, especially welcome when it is experiencing real difficulties”.
