After ten successful years of serving the community, The Loft Workshop in Stratford is being reorganised to “become even bigger and better in the future”.
Julia Phillips, Chief Executive of Voluntary Action Stratford on Avon (VASA) announced this week that the project’s operations have been reviewed and restructured. As a result the workshop will open for more hours, there will be better opportunities for more service users, and the range of activities will be expanded.
“Our plans include developing partnerships with local arts and crafts groups to make better use of the available space,” she said.
Clerical support has been moved to the main VASA office in Arden Street in order to free up space at the Avenue Farm premises for expanding the workshop and creating more craft opportunities for our service users.
VASA is currently recruiting for two paid Support Workers to work with our existing and future service users.
The Loft collects unwanted, donated furniture and white goods from homes throughout the District, restores and repairs the items in its workshop and then redistributes them to families in need. Its service users are people with or recovering from mental problems.
Ms Phillips added: “Last year was The Loft’s 10th anniversary and it was timely to take stock of where it was and where we want it to be. We have no doubt the services it provides will continue to be needed.”
