‘The Magnificent Mentors’ - New Project Launched by VASA

Added on Thu 7th Oct 2010 by Charles (Lead Officer)

This special project is an opportunity for ANY new possible business to have FREE mentoring support during every stage of development:

- Mentoring to develop a basic idea
- Mentoring to support business plan development
- Mentoring/advice on funding and support to turn a plan into a new business

We have recruited six (at present – more to come) specialist mentors who are volunteering to give their support and advice to:

- Individuals who are considering starting their own small business
- Individuals or partnerships who are investigating the possibility of making a significant investment to start a new business
- Community Groups who are considering setting up a Community Enterprise

The Mentoring will be from people who have been successful entrepreneurs in both small and large scale businesses. They include successful people in manufacturing as well as service and product supply.

We have recruited a number of people who have or still run specific types of business – to offer mentoring in their individual area of expertise.  As applicants for mentoring come through with specialist projects, we will try to recruit appropriate mentors as needed.

The first part of the mentoring available will be a one day event in late November (to be held in Stratford) where new business ‘owners’ will be able to meet with mentors to discuss their possible new ventures.  These meetings will be completely confidential as will all contact between mentors and new businesses.
