Recession puts voluntary services under pressure

The recession is imposing increasing demands on voluntary and community organisations, according to Voluntary Action Stratford on Avon District (VASA).
Chief Officer Julia Phillips says: “More and more people are turning to the voluntary sector for help. We are bracing ourselves for the demand and pressure on our services to intensity, and we are having to adapt to the situation as must households are having to do.
“However, I am confident that the voluntary sector, working closely with its statutory and other partners, will play a vital role in helping residents across the district to weather the worst”.
