Listening Books - Free Membership for Stratford-upon-Avon residents

Added on Mon 23rd Jan 2012 by Charles (Lead Officer)

Listening Books currently has free memberships available to the audiobook library service.

The service is available to anyone with an illness, disability or learning difficulty making it difficult for them to read printed books in the usual way.  Although there is usually a membership fee, funding has been received from Stratford Town Trust to give away free memberships to people who live in Stratford-upon-Avon.

This really is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who might not normally be able to afford the high costs of audiobooks but would really enjoy and benefit from being able to experience the joy of ‘reading’ that their illness or disability may have been inhibiting.  Membership to the library gives access to thousands of audiobooks for both adults and children.  The library provides fiction and non-fiction titles covering many popular genres and is also able to help children and young people who are studying by supplying set texts and subject-specific guides that support the National Curriculum.  The full library can be viewed at http://www.listening-books.org.uk/library.aspx

Once a new member has signed up, they will receive login details for the website and will then be able to stream titles directly from the website or download them to an iPod or other portable device whenever they like.
