Governor to the South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust

Voluntary Action Stratford on Avon and Warwickshire CAVA invite nominations for the role of Governor to the South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust with a view to ensuring that Voluntary and Community Sector perspectives are understood at Council level within the Trust.

Applications are invited from individuals who reside in either Stratford on Avon or Warwick Districts and who have strong links within their local communities. Individual expressions will then be shortlisted and a final selection carried out jointly by the Chief Executives of VASA and Warwickshire CAVA – Julia Phillips and Paul Tolley.

Those who are, or have been, active in the Voluntary and Community Sector and can demonstrate an understanding/experience of the NHS are invited to send an expression of interest outlining their reasons for wishing to be nominated to this role to the address below.

As a guideline to the role and responsibilities of a South Warwickshire Foundation Trust Governor:

It would be advantageous to have an appointee who is well-connected with voluntary groups involved in health care and/or social care, or in supporting users of these services, so that the preferences and priorities of these groups can be effectively represented in our Council of Governors.

It is important that the appointee is willing and able to take an active interest in the affairs of the Trust and to devote the modest amount of time required to perform the duties of Governor.

SWFT is about to acquire (from the PCT) the organisation that provides community-based health services to Warwickshire, thereby extending the Trust’s geographic reach to the whole county, although it will remain true that the great majority of our patients will be drawn from Warwick and Stratford districts.
