Representatives from a range of voluntary and community groups attended a seminar at Ryton Organic on 29th March where they were able to find out more about the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and how the voluntary sector can work with the LEP. The event was funded by Regional Action West Midlands and organised by Voluntary Action Coventry. Many thanks to Ranjna, Stephen and Sue for their work in hosting such an excellent event.
Speakers were Sharon Newport (C&W LEP), William Clemmey (WAYC), Bruce Undy (Federation of Small Businesses) and Tamy Matanky (C&W CDA). The speakers covered a wide range of topics relating to the local voluntary sector and its engagement with the LEP.
There were also two round table discussion sessions, where all participants considered questions like, ‘What priorities do the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise Sectors and LEP share?’ On my table there was a very enthusiastic and active debate around all the issues and I came away from the seminar encouraged by the commitment from everyone to work together for the good of the whole community.
